i think its a great idea. im doing alot of research right now about turboing my stock 5.0. itll either be fully stock, or have gt40 heads(ill pull the heads regardless to get GOOD gaskets under them and to stud them as opposed to bolts, so might as well junkyard gt40s). i havent done a whole lot of learning yet, but i do no that if i turbo it ill shoot for 400whp, which is do able w. a turbo on a stock motor. w.e. else anyone else has to say, id like to hear aswell, like i said, i just started doing my reasearch on it

i dissagree... w. a full h/c/i youll look at about 300whp(depending on what you get ofcourse) and your gas milage will go to ****!(yea i no, wut milage? but its a factor for us that drive these daily. ive seen counts of turbos on a stock 5.0 pulling ~400whp and getting 18mpg... see w. an h/c/i, ur using it all the time, w. boost, its only when your WOT(well not fully wot, but not just cruising)

Depending on how many miles are on your motor and how healthy in general it is, I'd say do it. Otherwise do a rebuild and then pop on the turbo.

i've been contemplating doing a DIY turbo too instead of my stroked kenne bell setup i have been thinking about... same thing with the gt-40's.... but i am kinda leaning towards P's because the exhaust flows better on the p's then the regular 40's and i think theat would be benneficial(sp?) to the turbos to make even more power?

well 1. i just got told that gt40s arent great for turbo's, they like to lift off the block to easily and blow head gaskets, but i dunno.

2nd, everyone, esp the original poster... read this...http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/in...?topic=77732.0 awesome info
