I don't see why filling the block to the bottom of the freeze plugs could hurt anything.
I also think that using studs on the 2 bolt main caps would have to help also..........

this is what you want...don't waste your time trying to drill and tap the block for an extra set of bolts...

Well I was wanting to get the sportsman block but everybody said "NO NO, You'll waste your money". You could buy 3 sportsman blocks for the price of one DART block. I talked to a guy last night thats been racing fords and mustangs for a long time and asked him what i could do to make my stock block stronger and he told me to get the Valley girdle that goes under the intake and the stud girdle for the bottom. So jasperstang, im going to be running both of them on my 347 stroker and should be making about 500HP.

4 bolting a 2 bolt block that has paper thin main webs is worthless.. its going to further weaken the lower half of the motor and allow it to fail easier.. ITS NOT GOING TO HELP

The mounts for the main bearings on the ford 2 bolt main block were not designed to have an aditional hole drilled and tapped into them. Think of it like 2x4 wall stud. you drill a hole in the center of it and then stress it at that point by bending up on each end of the board..chances are its gonna fail where the hole was drilled. that was an extreme example and the ford block is stronger than that but by the time you pay a machine shop to drill and tap (you can't do this with a hand held drill) The time and expense of all of that my not justify the cost. It might be better to just buy one of the quality aftermarket blocks that you know is strong to begin with.

If you can not afford to pruchase the decent 4 bolt block, then you likely do not have the funds to commit to builing a powerhouse that requires 4 bolt mains to begin with.

i can afford to do the build but cannot justify paying 3000g's for an aftermarket block. 2500 for intial cost and then the extra money for machining.

if i can get buy with getting offa little bit cheaper then i will. Will a mexican block half wayfilled with some girdles hold 600rwhp?
