to large of a space can hurt performance. on a stock setup not really worth the trouble unless the stocker was ported along with a few other things. helps give you more bottom end where as short runners give you less bottom end

it looks like santa got a summer job...hahahaha, i'm sorry roundy had to do it
anyway's i heard that spacers hurt your higher rpm hp? is that true or does it just change your power band?

reason i asked was that i'm planning on getting some custom valve covers
which are taller, and requires a spacer.i figure a 3/4in would cover it.without losing any hp.

Looks like you'll get a lump of coal in your stocking this year! NO GOODIES FOR YOU! LOL
everything I've read over the years about intake or carb spacers say they move the HP and torque peak rpm around in the powerband to where you can use it better, bigger spacers move the peak up in the band and vice versa.

I have a Ford racing gt40 intake and a 1" spacer. I recently had to take it off due to a problem I had and I can not really feel any diffrence in power, just my opinion.

taller spacer just move the power peak up in the rpm band as it imitates a tunnel ram manifold and this hurts the low end torque for a street motor.

grabbem88, you were saying you needed a spacer to clear your valve covers...how tall are they? i ran tall valve covers for a while on my car with out any spacer. although my manifold is about .5" taller then stock which helped with clearance. i run a 3/8" spacer now with plenty of clearance
