Default Convertible pump, or motor problems.

I don't know if it's called the pump or motor. But my drivers side, lets call it lifter, was spitting up flupid from the part where the lift rod goes in and out. Now is it just a ring that needs changing? Or is it an indication that it needs a new one. And can I go to a part store to get that fluid cause i'm sure it leaked all out when I was pulling down my top.

Seals are toast, get a new cylinder. Be carefull when changing it, the lines to it can become brittle. Dont ask how I know, I have a new set of lines to put in..[:@]

What about the fluid, where did you get it?

Just use automatic transmission fluid for the fluid. If you check the Convertible section there is a good description I wrote a couple months ago that will help you in filling it and the like. Pretty simple really, just not a whole lotta room to work.

To check the fluid level remove the filler plug located on the right side of the pump/motor assembly and check the fluid level. It should be level with the bottom of the filler plug hole. To fill it I always used transmission oil. But fill it with the top down. The leaking could easily be leaking. Imagine the following senario:

The top is up and you fill up the pump. Now you lower the top and the pressure increases and blows out the o-ring.
