Default What should I expect?

I know this question has been addressed numerous times, but I want some fresh perspectives. What should I expect in real-world terms from replacing my stock, 4 catted H pipe with an aftermarket number with cats...sound and performance wise. Right now, my headers are stock, and I have a custom, crush-bent cat back system with flows welded in. Thanks.

It's hard to describe without being able to show you before and after videos, but I can tell you to expect a HUGE difference in sound. When I had my stock 4-cat pipe on, it was a LOT quieter than when I have my O/R pipe on there. I can't say what the HP gains were because I never did a before / after dyno run.

As I'm sure you know, the stock headers are restrictive and aren't very good. When I swapped to summit headers ($99) I did notice a sound difference, but it wasnt huge. But anything you can do to improve the airflow will help (including ditching the crush-bent / crimped pipes.)

Going back to the original question... right now I have an offroad H-pipe, summit shorty headers, and flowmaster 40 exhaust. It sounds beautiful. I get a low rumble. It's loud but not too loud. Everyone I ask actually says that they like the sound and it isn't too quiet or loud. I have heard this from several cops as well, lol.

The only bad thing about it... I love listening to it so much I hardly listen to the radio anymore! Especially around this time of year when I first take it out of the garage. I listen to the exhaust roar and the supercharger whistle. Sounds better than any song I can think of

LOL. Thanks for the info, Samseed. Yeah, I'd like to do a full exhaust...I just wouldn't want to make the car any softer in the bottom end--which sometimes happens with bigger exhaust/headers. I wish I could run an offroad pipe, butI don't want trouble from these California cops! An "onroad" pipe is my only option. Truthfully, as long as the car would sound better, but not lose any bottom end, I'd be happy. At any rate, thanks again.

I installed this UPR X-Pipe on my last car and it sounded great compared to stock, it also freed up some extra horses, and its street legal. Here's a link for you...
