H/C/I swap not fast

RE: H/C/I swap not fast
Cams too big for current setup and you're likely FAT in the A/F...you probably aren't making much more than you were prior to the swap...sounds silly but very very likely. Did you choose a spring upgrade to handle the big lift of the Stage 2? Valve float would definately be a possiblity, Big TB will kill velocity somewhat to the heads, combined with the soft gear and I wouldn't be entertained by the car either. Choosing parts that worktogether is the secrete to making power...not just throwing aftermarket parts in a hit or miss manner.

I'd still get it tuned, I'd bet that the driveability isn't all that great andit's getting horrible gas mileage. Why would you guyswant to drive something around for a couple of months that runs like ****? I would go ahead and buy the chip and get it tuned now. Re-tuning is a lot less than the cost of your original tune, since you don't have to buy a chip again.

i agree dont waste ne money on a tune if ull need to get it retuned in a few months newayz.... and u need that tb and maf u have if u want to run a turbo in smaller is realy pushing it

I really wouldn't worry about the power tune or changing any parts on it if you are going to be adding some turbos to it... When you get everything put on then you can go get your tune andhave everything squared away.

Tune it...the SCT multiprogram chip is perfect for you current situation...get a tune for now...very little additional cost for later. My guess is your giving up 20plus (conservative) with a very fat A/F as she sits.

Ideally yea big cam sounds great but you're only running a small displacment engine..velocity is everything and with cam tech where it is today bigger is not better by any stretch. My opinion is a better cam now and definately install a smaller injector...retain everything else, swap the gears and you'll love the car on the street. A well selected cam like the XE comp cams will also accomodate the boost well and still likely make AS GOOD power boosted as the stage 2. I know this sounds like a huge pain but you'll be rewarded with a faster ride right now..and as fast later.

Yeah, that's a horribly mismatched combo of parts, which is why it runs like crap. If it's gonna be turbo in a few months, the biggest thing to deal with right now is that cam that's too big for 2.73's, and the oversized induction(tb, injectors etc)...so basically....everything. [&:] And just putting a big cam and a carb on it is a BAD idea. A good setup with a small cam can still make monster streetable power in a 302, as opposed to a bad setup with a big cam that runs like crap
