Turn downs or full exhaust tile pipes
I was wondering if it made that much of a difference with turn downs Vs. full length tile pipes? The sound and smell is another story? also, what is a good way to get those turn downs off? There is only a U clamp...However, they are on pretty tight. I bought Flow Master pipes...

RE: Turn downs or full exhaust tile pipes
to get those pipes out and the new ones in, your going to have to get the crimp out of the pipe, where the clamp is.
heat is the best way, or a tailpipe expander. |

I can twist it left and right and bend it a bit however she is still a Bi---! How about some WD-40

RE: Turn downs or full exhaust tile pipes
you can try all the penetrating oil you want, eventually your gonna have to bang it out of there with a hammer.
my point is that the muffler pipe itself is crimped from the clamp. that is what is holding it. you have to get that crimp out of the pipe or you are going to have a war getting that pipe out, and an even harder time trying to get another pipe into it. that crimp must be flattened out, or you are going to find yourself 6 hours from now, probably in the same spot you are now. |

Your suggestion is well taken...Do you have the tail pipes or turn downs?

very nice looking stang by the way. cant you just cut them off and just weld on the rest?

my suggestion to you, is to unbolt the mufflers from the mid-pipe, and take them to your local shop. probably charge you $20 to get the turndowns out and re-stretch that crimp out with a pipe expander.
if you want your exhaust to not leak, and not be beaten to hell with a hammer, this is what you should do. |
RE: Turn downs or full exhaust tile pipes
Exactly, I will measure and do a pre fit before any removing or cutting...Your, right about the turn downs...LOUD, SMELLY and vibrates the car esspically when it is a convert! Thanks for the compliment...I just got it last week and it's a blast...Just putting all of the finishing touches on it. I am however have an idle issue? Also, car dies out coming to a stop...Maybe I need to clean the MAF or maybe it's a fuel pump issue?
