Default Problem with front 17x9 wheels??? PLEASE HELP

Hi... I just installed some black Cobra R wheels on my 1991 Mustang LX. I put 17x9 with 245 45 series tires all the way around. American Muscle said it would be fine. I also have the car lowered 1.5" with BBK springs. I just drove on the freeway and hit a bump... and the tires hit pretty hard on the rim well. Enough to make a little cut in the lip of the tire. Is this normal... I mean are other people having this problem? Is there anything I can do?

Yes other people have problems running this size tire and wheel combo up front. I have always tried to presuade people from getting this combo up front because of my own experences. And i find it interesting that some of these sellers recomend this size up front for the Fox Mustang. There are some things that you can do but you may not like the answer. You can get shorter tires for the front, or get different wheels(17x8s) or both, or put the stock springs back on.

Thanks 88Ragtop. That's what I thought. They didn't have 17x8 in the rims that I wanted. Only 17x9. My brother and the shop said that it's not too bad as far as damage to the tire or fender.

Can you fit a smaller tire on 17x9? I have 245. Would 225 or 235 fit?

I have 235/45's on mine, and they dont rub unless I am at full lock. Same drop you have too.

225 would fit but it would look kinda funny. does your wheel rub when you turn the steering wheel all the way?

Are those 17x9" 235 45? That would be better than the 245 that I have on there now.

They don't scrap if I lock out unless I hit a little dip
