Default My 99' Ford Explorer with a 5.0

Hi,
First of all, i do nothave a Mustang,I havean Explorer. From 1996-2001, Ford put the 5.0LV8 in the Explorer and thats what mine has in it. I came to this Forum to get advice on exhaust. I want my 5.0Explorer to sound like a 5.0Mustang. Right now i am running true duals with one set of cats and no mufflers with 3in tips out both sides. I have just purchased an X-pipe and a set of Mac Flowpath mufflers and these are my first steps to acheiving the Mustang sound.

I am here toask advice onwhat i can do to make my 5.0 Explorer sound like a 5.0 Mustang and i am looking for any other tips or neccesary things i need to run in my exhaust system to acheive the sound i am looking for.

Thanks,
Colton

no cats and 40series flows... thats the most distinct mustang sound there is... also you should trade me heads and intakes, so urs sounds like a stang too

Thats exactly what i am wanting to do. I am a member of a large Explorer Forum and i made a post about taking off all 4 of my cats (5.0L Explorers come with 4 cats) and here's how it went http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...d.php?t=185400

I have already bought the two Mac Flowpath mufflers, do you think i should exchange them for two Flowmaster 40's? I know the Mac's sound comes close the Flows but is it not close enough?

BTW - no, you cannot have my GT40pheads or intake.

Thanks,
Colton

Well, for sound, should i use the X-pipe i bought or use an H-pipe? Also, what size pipe should i use in the system?

Heres an exhaust clip of my Explorer now...hopefully the X-pipe will change this sound up a bit.

Go to the Exhaust clips sticky in the top of this forum and look at the two I posted. One is with a BBK H pipe and one is with a BBK X pipe. You decide .

I think i like the one with the X-pipe....The H-pipe seems like it pops alot when u let off the throttle.

Thanks,
