331 and blower options
im starting to plan out my next build for my notch. i wanna do a 331 with a blower i think..... i wanna run a carb so what would be a good combo for a blower? and whatkinda blower would be good with a 331. i plan on running edelbrock performer rpm heads because i already have them on my 306. any suggestions would be great!

i dont kno it may be fora gm and require a dual quad setup. a wieand style blower is the way to go. do a search on the net for them and u will find a lot of info.

dyers makes the 6-71 and the 8-71 sytle blowers for pretty much any application. also they sell different top plates for dual or single carb applications. (two holley 390's would be sweet up there)
the 8-71 moves more volume of air per revolution, which means it works less to provide the same amount of air as 6-71, which also means potential for more boost. basicly 6-10 lbs a 6-71 is the way to go, if you want 10-14 lbs you want a 8-71. also i believe each model is capable of making more boost than i listed but it gives a good idea where you wanna be. running something like that, you wanna start with dished pistons in the 8.0-8.5:1 range. |
