Default 5.0 Starter Problems

Im having trouble with my starter on my 82 5.0 Capri. it very occasionaly starts but slowely like battery is low which it is not. also the salenoid starts to smoke. I tried jumping the salenoid and even taking starter directly to battery. Neither worked so it something witht the starter.

Which side is the starter on and how do I remove it lol. This is the first ford iv ever owned and just got it. And push starting isnt always an option lol.

the starter is on the passenger side... under your exhaust manifolds, put car on jack stands and you will be able to see. its only 2 bolts and a wire or 2.... shouldnt take a new guy more then 30-40 minutes.... thats if u dont know much about the car

and it def sounds like a bad starter. if your unsure, take it off and take it to a parts store. most places can load test them on a bench, like AutoZone and Advance Auto
