You will have to remove the guides and retainers too. That magnet will work just fine. Hopefully none of them will be stuck. And remember to put them back in the right bore unless you plan on installing new lifters.

Remove the intake....the lifters should come out fine, you don't need to remove the heads......Suggest to degree the cam though.

is that as hard as it seems? ive never gotten into this stuff before, is there anyway to make sure of TDC without degreeing a cam?

im alowing 7 days for me to do it with out side help from friends. i did some reading in the tech book and its clear now. i must have read over that stuff last time.
