RE: honest oppinion plz
My first complete rebuild was a 260 out of a 60s Fairlane into a 65 Falcon that was a 170 straight 6. I had a hand in everything from deburring the block etc to painting the block. Its pretty easy stuff. Just take your time and youll be ok. Once youre done sit back and relax and feel good about the engine you just rebuilt.
Just label all the connections, especially the connections by the battery. take a picture or three for later because its not hard to mix them up. Each connection is matched more less and can only go on one way so itll be easy. Take your time, dont cut any corners, and dont overtorque anything.

I've never really done any engine work before and i just pulled my engine and did a head/cam swap, its pretty easy as long as you have a basic understanding of how the engine works.

Go for it!
I've built two 302's, I didnt find it to be too difficult.
Before that I had no prior experience, I just learned from my mistakes. Granted, my engines are Carbeurated and your dealing with afew more wires. If your unsure of yourself, buy the chilton's manual. (SP)*?
Good luck
