Please help Transmission Question!
Okay guys, I'm really stuck on this one and I would appreciate the help a tonne! I have a 1985 5.0 Automatic. I want to put a standard in it. The transmission that bolts up is a T-5, right? Okay here's my predicament. I have a 2.3 L Mustang Transmission from an 1988 car. Is it a T-5 transmission? I read online that it is, please help! This link http://cgi.ebay.ca/FRESH-WC-T-5-T5-8...QQcmdZViewItemis to a transmission taken out of a 2.3 L Ford, but it says it will work in an 85 5.0... is that true?

RE: Please help Transmission Question!
Thanks, I don't know a lot about transmissions, but are the clutch componnents to the T-5 interchangable with the 2.3L transmission or are they specific for each (you can only use specific clutch components with one, and other components with the other) ? I have some clutch components for a 2.3 and want to know if I get a T-5 can I throw my 2.3L clutch stuff on?

RE: Please help Transmission Question!
no, you can not use the 2.3l clutch parts. you have an 85 which requires a 157 tooth flywheel and 10" clutch disc, your 2.3l will be a 10.5"
the only way you could use the 2.3l stuff is if you bought a 87-93 5.0 bellhousing, which has enough clearance for the 10.5" assembly

RE: Please help Transmission Question!
You can get a conversion flywheel to the 157t for your traditional 302, making this an easy application. The only thing that may suck is getting the clutch actuation to work. I would suggest a hydraulic slave bearing and master cylinder to keep from having to run linkage. Let me know if you have questions, I do this for a living.
