Default dumb question.........who knows

if you have ptv issues, and you retard the timing 4 degrees this gives the intake alittle more room i know, but if you are still to close cant you just run a shorter pushrod (within reason , i know) to make your clearance instead of notching your pistons, the first thing you always see when someone has a ptv issues is notch your pistons, never do you see check your pushrod length.
thanks for letting me ramble
