the only reason why i ask is because i have heard many mixed reviews on clearances. from what summit said, .530 is max. then i heard .540 is max. does anyone know for sure, there is a lot riding on it. im trying to look it up in my tech book for the fox bodies but am having no luck so far.

I ran that exact same setup on my car for about four years, intake and all....(iron heads)In the end the springs started getting tired and floating valves at about 53-5400 rpm. But that was after 50k or so on the clock.

to the original poster, there is no way to say what is the max. for every motor its a small bit different. however, u should always check ptv, but the biggest cam i have seen on a stock bottom end is the trick flow stage 2, which is 543/562 and like 286/294 duration. more than that i would assume wont work. but im not 100% sure. good luck

you forgot to mention that the cam was also timed a bit so the valves were further away than if it was installed straight up
