Default 4/5 pt harness

Hey guys Im 19 years old with a firefighter as a father. I absolutlely love FOX bodies and want one really bad but the only thing keeping me from buying one is my dad is worried about me getting into an accident with it. I was wondering if anyone out there had any personal experience with putting a 4 or 5 pt harness into the fox bodies and if that would raise the safety of the vehicle alot? Any help is appreciated

No i understand that he just would like me to have airbags but I have been trying to think of a solution for a few years to just have him feel more comfortable with me driving it. I dont really want a newer stang I just really like the foxes. The 88' LX doesnt have a drive side airbag nor passenger so I figured if I put really nice seats in it, it would make up the difference in an accident.

If you drive like a moron a5 pnt F1 belt and seat custom fit to you with a $5,000 carbon fiber HANS still won't keep you from getting into an accident. However, if you put a roll bar in it with a 5pnt it will be a safer car if you smash it up/get smashed.

Get a '90 or newer... Driver side airbag is standard...

For that matter, I'll put my '91 column in for you and you can HAVE my air bag... I'd much rather have your tilt...

thx guys just plz dont flame im trying to find a solution for the problem. I know Im still kinda young but I have a perfect driving record with no accidents. And If I get it Id prolly pay for my own insurance. I just need some help. Its kind of like having a cop for a dad and getting arrested.

Can understand your point. I bet your dad sees a lot of bad stuff. But still, you can get into an accident in any car. Try and make him realize that.

i agree with getting a fox that has an air bag.

if you want you can get a 6 point roll bar and put in a 5 point harness but it wont do much. the main hoop would be just behind the door. what happens if you get t-boned right into the door? it will be as if the hoop isnt even there. if anything, youll get hurt more because as the door slams into you, your body wont be able to be pushed away because the harness will be holding you in.

and at 19, why are you dad's paranoias effecting your decisions?
