Lowering springs

Lowering springs
I want to lower my 95 GT about an inch. Can I do this with just new springs? I don't want to affect camber etc. Whats the cheapest way to go about this. These sn95's always look a meaner when they're lowered slightly.

RE: Lowering springs
Caster/Camber plates are normally a 'must' when dropping the car...
I went with Eibach pro-kit...Love it!!
They give the car a great stance, without going too low...I never bottom out either.
But I did need the plates........when I had it aligned without the plates, the camber was off...threw a set of MaximumMotorsport on there...now OK!

Lowering the suspension always affects the alignment.
Lowering the suspension always affects the alignment.
To go further into detail, anytime you install lowering springs you increase negative comber and toe setting goes negative too. The negatice camber can be lived with for a short period before getting an alignment but the toe will make the car pull, make the steering wheel feel "heavy", and eat up the tires. If you plan on getting springs plan on an alignment. Just dropping1" shouldn't require any extra items for alignment like cc plates, there's enough adjustment in the stock parts to compensate for 1". Expect a slightly stiffer ride with drop springs, 1" won't be hateful though.
I'd get H&R or Eibach or FRPP springs for a 1" drop. The FRPP's are probably the cheapest. I'm more extreme and went down 2" on my Fox Coupe with cc plates and I love it.

Now don't get me wrong, cc plates are always a good idea. but they aren;t always a necessity.

RE: Lowering springs
I got a question on the pro kit. I'm looking on ebay and there are a ton of kits. they got em for 79-93, 79-02, 87-90, 91-93. Which ones do i get!?
EDIT: nvm when I click on them it says 79-93. Do they only make one pro kit for these years then?

RE: Lowering springs
I put Ford B lowering springs on my car they look great, lowered the car about and inch, maybe a tiny bit less but they give the car that aggresive stance and the rest of the stock suspension parts seem to be ok.

RE: Lowering springs
well my car has eiback springs and it was lowered about 2 inches according to the previous owner and the alignment does seem to be a bit off. the inside of the tires are being worn more than the rest. will an alignment fix it or do i just need to get cc plates? sorry for hijacking the thread but this is the topic so any help will be appreciated.

RE: Lowering springs
As far as FRPP springs goes I like the F springs.
I use the sportlines on my coupe, I don't drive my car daily so lower and stiffer is fine for me.
You could easily go with 1.5" springs and not scrape. My car went down 2" and I don't scrap, even with my subframe connectors on it. I only have to be watchful for extremely high pitched speed bumps.
