Default Wiring for a carburated engine

Hey guys I was wondering I have a 87 ranger with a 5.0 and I was wondering what wires I would need to run the engine and the gauges The engine is from and 83 stang and help would be apprieciated because it's just to cobbled up with all those wires left from the stock harness!!!

your best bet would be to go with a stand alone ignition.. check out MSD... would save you ALOT of headaches

If it is fuel injected, I doubt anyone will give you that lengthy answer.

Takes all of three things needed wired up for a carbed car. Ignition/distributor, Starter, & Fuel pump if electric. As for gauges,... Stock tach wont work more than likely. [sm=icon_rtfm.gif] for your gauge info...

umm you need ignition for your coil so really only one power wire. And dont forget to get a fuel pressure regulator if your keeping the electric fuel pump in or youll blow the seals out of the carb!!

yup. one hot wire for ignition, one for elec carb choke (if your gonna have one). and then your basic oil pressure / temp sensors. you should be able to retain those from your V6, and keep em in the stock gauges.

just pay attention to what you actually DO need, and then cut off everything you dont.
