Comp XE282 Roller

I have been looking at buying the cam stated above. I know there are a few of you guys out there running them. I got a couple of questions about it.

#1.Does the cam provide enough vaccum for the brakes and such?

#2. What does the cars idle sound like, is it choppy? Anyone have a video of there car idling with an XE282

What are the specs on the cam?

RE: Comp XE282 Roller

It has a split duration/lift

Duration (adv.)-282 int./ 290 exh.

Lift- 564int./ 574 exh.

I had a flat tappet cam that was a 286 advertised with a .471 lift (summit) on stock truck heads and it had a nice choppy idle to it. I just have never ran a roller set up before.

whats actual duration. advertised is basically useless

your gonna need a hell of a flycut to your pistons if you plan on running a lift that high.

also, i hope you have some SERIOUS heads, afr185's or bigger.

I thought you were talking somethin small but that cam is prolly a little to wicked for a stock car car with like a trickflow stage one or somethin unless you plan on forkin out the money for heads and intake then possibly a tune

It's going in my 347, 190cc Aluminum Pro Comp heads that everyone dislikes. Carburetor set up.

I think the duration @ 50 is like 230int./240exh.

I run the Comp Cam the size smaller than that, XE274HR with AFR 185's...it's nice, almost wish I wen with the 282 but mine has enough vacuum and streetabitlity, the 282 should too.

Call Comp they will steer you in the right direction. I have the next size smaller and like it alot, it has a lumpy idle. My car has 14 1/2" of vacuum at 900 rpm.

Lift has nothing to do with PtV clearance....

Cam designed for a 302 + a 347 stroker = 302 power....just a thought.
