RE: carb question again
yea where would the fuel pump be im not really good with cars im only 18 but i have 2 mustangs. also my other car a 1990lx with only 50000 on it seemed faster than this car and this car has alot of modds and the lx only has gears and this car has the same gears any idea why? the 83 hesitates hen i floor it so i didnt really get to get on it but it seemed like the lx had more power. but i know ive asked this question 5 times but i havnt gotten an answere could i buy an electric fuel pump and bypass it or is the mechanical fuel pump easily accessed and cheaper to buy? also some one told me something about it could be my acending unit? dont know what that is but they told me an electric fuel pump would fix it if it waws that instead of dropping the tank

RE: carb question again
the mechanical pump is on the drivers side of the motor, about half way down...you cant miss it... dissconnect the line from the fuel tank coming into the pump and blast air into the line so it blows back into the tank..this will blow any crap back into the tank and if anything is in the pickup tube it will blow that crap out too...then hook all that back up and disconnect the line that goes into the carb...with that line off, turn the motor over for like 30 seconds and see if any fuel comes out...i would blast the crap outta all of my fuel lines with an air compressor..ive had this problem before and that took care of it...as far as the electric fuel pump, I dont think you can, just because it puts fuel in at a different pressure...but replacing the mechanical pump is a pain in the A$$, just because of where it is located...so try all that and get back to us.... and PLEASE tell me you did not do that front end conversion on you 83

RE: carb question again
thank you for all your help im going to try it this weekend. how much would a mechanical fuel pump cost me? so all the lines going to the fuel pump i should hook an air compressor up to? those are the only fuel lines right? also about my floorboards i can just weld metal sheets over them right or would they be unsafe. and no ididnt do the conversion i bought it like that

RE: carb question again
you can use a carter mechanical fuel pump..they world great I would get the hi volume pump..all your pressure has to be is atleast 4.5 psi or 8-9 psi on a nitrous...blow the line and has someone by the gas tank to listen for air ...then reinstall your fuel line on the pump.... then pour a small amt of gas in carb and fire up, you may have to do this 2-3 times to fill the bowl up....if it doesn't check your fuel filter if there is one by the gas tank....also there might be one where the fuel line goes into the carb. after this while the line is off have someone crank the engine while you hold a rag over the line to see if gas comes up...
