Default SN95 question about cats

okay so i just bought a sn95 GT and i had to put cats on the exhaust just to pass emissions with visuals. Now i would like to hollow out the cats to get a better sound out of the exhaust system. what would you do to complete this? and if done would it sound worse or would i need glass packs? or just to take them off and open them up to remove the inner portions? any input would be appreciated, thanks!

i had a old 89 f-350 and the cats "broke down" inside and was constipating the engine. we took the cats off and gutted them and put them back on...wow did that help lol...i kinda liked the sound it made...it gave it a little different noise/tone. u could hear the sound changing when it moved through the cats. go for it and gut them and see if you like it. if not then get an exhaust system w/ high flow cats.

i agree. buy a offroad midpipe and when the time comes to pass emissions again just put the midpipe with cats back on.

summit, ebay, jegs, you name it. What your looking for is a 2.5" off road X or H pipe for stock or shorty headers unless you have long tube headers. Not the mid pipe. Hope that helps.
