93's have a brake on the reverse gear. Some may even refer to it as a synchronizer. So it shouldn't grind even if the clutch is bad and not fully disengaging.

Pro, your 92 may have the brake also.

Grinding reverse without the brake is common but only if your disc and input shaft are still spinning. Hitting a forward gear, that is synchronized, stops everything from spinning. Then you engage reverse without grinding.

A good test to ensure your clutch is disengaging. Press the clutch pedal down for about 5 seconds. As long as the disc is not dragging. Everything will eventually stop spinning and you'll be able to engage reverse without the grind.

Okay guys, I have 2 Rx7's, an 88 and an 87 (one has a 5.0 swap on it) I can tell you right now that it does not fit for sure, I have held the tranny right up to the block and its WAY to small. If it did fit there would be a TON of very very happy 5.0 Rx7 owners out there, because one of the hardest parts of the swap is the clutch and tranny (for me anyways) O' and MEM 302 the spark plugs would never fit and the battery doesnt have enough amps to power the beefy all powerfull 5.0. lol I'm just messin with ya.

Hey dimebag the RX7's tranny IS stronger than a world class T5 not by much, but it is and there are stress tests that show it.
