Default pistonto valve clearance??

ok i just got done puttin the pushrods and rocker arms on and i was wondering how to check... i was thinking that there would be a disticnked (SP?) metal to metal sound if they were hitting.... i dont here nething like that i do here kinda a funk sound... but it doesnt sound like metal to metal thumper did the head work so im not positive on the valve size but im thinking there somewhere around 2.02-1.94 he knew i was using stock pistons so im pretty sure i wont have a problem but i was wondering if there was a quite way to duoble check other than listening when i hand turn the crank around
