Definately worth it. Not sure if they'll work on an 86 engine without notching the pistons, though.
the only heads that work on a stock 86 block are E6 heads and trick flow Twisted Wegde heads
E7's work too. They have same size valve as an 86 head and the valves are in the same location. Really only combustion chamber shape and port size is the main diff. I've known a couple local guys with 86's and thunderbirds (same motor as an 86) with e7's with stock pistons. They were obviously limited to a stock cam.
