RE: *Engine won't run right after head install....PLEASE HELP!!!*
The engine ran beyond perfect before a couple days ago when I added the heads so I'm sure the timing chain is fine. I am using the stock length 6.272 hardened FMS pushrods. This really confuses me since when I first adjusted them with the comp cams rockers they seemed way too loose and the engine didn't want to run and then when I readjusted them again with the harland sharp rockers today they seemed too tight with no clacking under the valve covers and the engine still wouldn't run right. I then backed them off and it would start to rev at a lower rpm but still wouldn't run below 3,000 rpms. I'm so confused......

I am not sure about the Edelbrock heads, but AFRs are usually a 6.300" or longer. FWIW I used 6.300" and 6.400" rods to get the correct geometry, stock just wouldnt cut it. Arent stock pushrods 6.248'?
You have the pattern down, but how much are you tightening them? I did 1/2 turn and mine are fine, but get a bit loud when the oil warms up so Im going to tighten them to 3/4 here in a while.

I am going right at 1/2 turn past 0 lash. I always adjust them this way and did that every time before. I'm wondering if I have a totally different problem that I'm not aware of. What would make the engine not want to run unless you are revving it up real high?

What would make the car miss and stutter and not want to run unless you are revving it up high? Valves out of adjustment? Other things? I keep wanting to say my valves aren't right. Will the pushrods being too short or too long make the valves not open and close correctly and in turn make the engine run like a turd until you rev it hard? It simply will not run on its own without me being hard on the gas and once you get it up to around 3,000 or more it revs normal.

You don't need and adjustable pushrod to check and see if you areusing the correct size push rod length. Pull one of your valve covers off, remove a rocker arm, clean off valve stem tip, color it with black permanent, place rocker arm back on the head, set the tightness and turn the motor over by handa few times and look at the wear pattern. Have you ever used that method before? That'll tell you if your pushrods are too short, long or perfect. That would be my next step if I were you.
