where to start my road to a supercharger?

RE: where to start my road to a supercharger?
I wish people understood that a 5.0l with a KB is NOT a track animal... the KB superchargers get too hot from heat soak and they are impossible to cool down. If I had to go s/c, it would definitly be a vortech unit with an intercooler. Dont get me wrong, I know the ATI Procharger is a great piece... but the intake setup BLOWS!
but honestly... tubo, or go home!

are you kidding me? a kenne bell makes a perfect daily driver...but I do agree samseedI was suggesting kenne bell, because he has a high mileage motor and may not want to be revving it real high, and most centris dont kick in until higher in the rpm range, but now please correct me if i am wrong, i definitely do not know as much as you on the whole forced induction field so im not gunna say im right and everyone else is wrong...that was just my opinion...and noone said a kenne bell was gunna be a track monster, its just gunna be a hell of a lot better than stock

the issue with kenne bell superchargers is that they soak up alot of heat, and dont cool off. You can literally watch power fall off on the dyno runs with a KB supercharger as the day goes by, because the system gets too hot and becomes innefficient.
Yes, street, those s/c's are animals... but I still feel that they do not do as well on our 5.0's as they do on a 4.6l.
My personal preferance for s/c would be a intercooled, straight discharge, Vortech unit. And ONLY because the ATI Procharger setup is designed poorly!

Actually Adder, now that I think about it, Pro50SC has a good setup on his Procharger. He was able to run the intake into his driver's side federwell So it's just as good as the other units. It's still a blow through instead of a draw through, but at least it takes care of the heat problems.
Of course, that's not an option for us. The strut tower is just too close and it can't make the sharp turn into the fenderwell. But that helps the guys with the older ones.
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure out a way to place it somewhere just a little better.
