i have a pretty loud knock or maybe a tick and when i raise the hood it sounds like it's coming from the valve cover on the passenger side what do you guys think it could be.

An exhaust leak out of your headers possibly. What's your oil level at?

I agree...probably an exhaust leak.

They say that 90% ofvalve problems are normally not valves at all...they arejust exhaust leaks.

this sounds like the rockers are hitting the valve covers and the engine is just rebuilt with new trick flow h/c/i.

if you think its a rocker hitting a valve cover... logic would dictate that you should remove that valve cover and look for internal damage or signs of contact....


but sometimes logical thinking is too difficult for some people

Nicely stated...your description is as hard to diagnose as can be. If you didn't check VC clearance then most likely solution SHUT THE CAR OFF...pull the covers and FIND THE CAUSE before your brand new motor possibly becomes the motor your currently rebuilding.
