88 GT How do i change the Mounts.
Hello i just got my second mustang. 1988 GT. I started to do some spring cleaning under the hood and noticed that my motor mount's are cracked. I have a pair that came in a box when i got the car off the previous owner they are a yellowish metal and have a rubber piece in the center. Dont know the make... what do you think should i make the swap or buy my own?...Also i want to do everything myself...its my project car...whats the right way to do it? how long does it take?

use them they will be fine. u will have to lift the motor up a lil to get em out, theres like 3 bolts that attach them to the motor. just lift it out enought to change them. i dont know if u have to undo the tranny mount or not, it will flex on it and allow u to lift the motor up but how much i dont know. ive only replaced them while motor was out all the way......actually i take that back i did do it once on accident, i swapped a v8 into a 86 notch 4 car and never bolted in the mounts and whent for a test drive and the motor hopped out of the mount holes and i had to hoist it up a bit and get it lined back up. so yes u can do it with out diconnecting anything else

Ok thanks, but if i dont have an engine lift can i lift it up with jacks... also do i have to un-screw the Mounts from the top side or from the bottom...what would be better to do. also if i could use the jacks to lift the engine where is a good place to put them.
