RE: stock gear ratios?
from an earlier post I made in answer to this same question.
look at the decal on the driver's door and you will see more info than the VIN, the tranny codes and rear end gear codes are listed below the VIN, get those and maybe I can tell you what you have. In 1988 the codes are these: the eighth digit is the engine code with A= 2.3 L OHC EFI; T= 2.3 L EFI turbo; 4=3.8 L EFI; F= 5.0 EFI; E=5.0 EFI HO (plus); G= 5.8 VV
under AX is the axle code where 8 or M = 2.73 gears; Y or Z = 3.08; F or R = 3.45; 5 or E = 3.27; 6 or W = 3.73; 2 or K = 3.55 and 8, Y, F, 5, 6, and 2 are non locking rears. under the TR is the tranny code where A or W is a 5 speed and L or T is an automatic.

so you think I've got nothing better to do than answer the same question over and over??? LOL new peeps need to SEARCH!
I have always been one who liked to read and I've got some good reference manuals that I rely on when I need the facts to answer some questions on here! I guess now that I've gotten a good reputation, I can start making up answers and see if anybody notices it when I do! bwahahahahahaha
