Did you check where it is soldered to the window, sometimes those fall off and need to be re-soldered. You should check that, it is literally on the window itself.

Hmmm, that is about all I can think about, that is the only problem I have ever had with defrosters unless the coils themselves are bad, if they can even go bad that is.

You can check the coil lines on your rear window with a volt meter as long as your window isn't tinted. The rear defroster coils are very touchy. If the window has been tinted in the past and the tint was removed and they nicked one of the coils. If the coil was nicked or cut all the way through it will brake the circuit.First check for power at the solder joint at the window. Then follow the coils carefully and check for power and see if you lose it anywhere along the way.

You can check around for ideas I really dont have any.Everytime I found that problem on the car was when im working at a Dealership and we replace the window.Sucks that it comes down to that. But im really not sure of a repair.
