mac's and most other unequel shortys need dimpling, and 90degree ends to work. it also takes a lot of effort to get the plugs out.

Not the FMS and Mac P specific headers. BBK Unequals supposedly work well too.

the specific will work, it was all in regards to his current headers and them bolting up with no modifications. they do require minor mods so i said the wont work regarding his application.

i never did understand why you guys buy headers and dont get long tubes anyways..... or at LEAST equal length shorties. how much gain can there possibly be going from a ford exhaust to an aftermarket unequal shorty? cant be all that much, seems like money pissed away

its probally about cost. its easier to spend 150 on nice chrome shorties than it is to spend 300 on painted long tubes.

equel shortys are a real chore to install.

I put gt-40p's on my car, which 94's are a little different, but the only real problem i had was having to zip tie the plug wires back so they don't rub the headers and burn into them... That's the only downfall on them... Otherwise a great head for the price... Second set i've owned...

And for people using them on 94-95's, MAKE DAMN SURE you put plugs in before you put the headers on cuz you can't get the #7 plug in the head with full lenth headers bolted to the head... Found out the hard way...

One thing the guy did right on my car, long tubes.

So are GT40p's from 97 1/2+ explorers or pre 97 1/2?

Any idea what to expect to pay for a set from a junkyard? Would my trickflow valve springs in my stock heads now swap over?

your springs will be a direct swap, price depends on the place. could be 50 bucks for the pair, could be 400 for the pair.

if your going to get the 97 1/2 or earlier 40's, everyone recommends getting about .030 milled off to bring the chamber size back to where it should be so your not loosing compression. (this is a good time to go ahead and do a valve job so everything is nice and tidey)
