when you rebuilt a motor does it burn oil?

it might smoke on startup for a few seconds but that should be it, it shoudln't burn oil.

a little burning for the first couple hundred miles is normal, everything needs to seat into place.

if your burning through quart after quart, something is wrong

i have the same problem, created by a somewhat plugged PCV whilst having weak piston rings. blowby sucks.

if its rebuilt it should have new rings which means no blow by

my motor is current running down the oil but its not burning it. Its simply breaking in still. Im told this should last about 10,000 miles from break in from multiple experts. But if its burning it you probably have improper sealing rings.
