Default seat piston rings - help plz!

i spun a bearing on a brand new engine after about 200 miles. it has moly rings that i reused because they were almost new, along with almost everything else in the motor. but now that the motor is back together it is smoking and only making about 2 inches of vaccume. also doesnt really want to run unless i put in a bunch of timing and turn the idle screw up a LOT. will ther rings reseat? or will i need to rehone the block and put in new rings?

Are any of the cylinders scratched badly? Spin the motor with the heads off of course and look in the cylinder bores, I will bet you have a bad ring or leakdown because of a gouged cylinder wall.

The rings should be fine if you installed them back in the same cylinders they cam out of, and put them in properly(ie, not upside down, end gaps properly lined up, used a ring compressor etc etc). Try checking for leaks, spray brake cleaner along the intake gaskets with it running, if the idle changes noticably, you got an intake leak, while it's running, before it warms up, look in the radiator and see if there's bubbles coming up, you might have a head gasket leak. If the plugs were black, you're too rich on the carb, and also, do you have oil pressure?

the rings/pistons/rods never came apart and were all numbered. all the pistons whent back in the same bores. i do have oil preassure. and yes i am very rich because the motor is not making enough vacume to closebothpower valves(holley 4150 hp) the motor runs a little better with the idle screws turnned all the way in. i am making about 5inches of vacume at the best tune i can possibly make it. but then i am idling at like 35 timing. 1200rpm and still pig rich to make that 5 inches. im starting to think that i am going to need to rehone the cylinders and put in new rings.

NO

You must re hone the cylinders and install new rings any time the rings are pulled.

That is most likely part (if not all)of your problem.
