no start after washing

Default no start after washing

HI today i wash engine bay becouse its too dirty ,the result was fantastic ,after i finish washing i start the engine to warm up to evaporate water from engine then i shut down.after half hour i try to start engine but its not,engine is cranking buttheres not firing [:@],theres sound for back firing & knocking,
need help please

try taking the spark plugs out and drying them and do the same with the distributor

yep, you got the distributor wet. the plugs shouldn't be affected, unless water got into the plug wire boot.

check any kind of connectors for water in them. happened to me once so i just looked at everything blew some things out and jiggled a couple others and it started rite up. sounds stupid but it worked. you never know.
mine didnt backfire or knock tho

When you clean the engine bay, cover up all of the electronics with plastic bags or something similar to keep them dry.

Take the cap off the distributor as well. Condensation under the cap will cause that too.

I'll sell ya a distrubtor cover if you want it... PM me if interested. But yeah, I'd be surprised if the problem wasn't a wet distributor. Not a big deal

Not really. You never know...maybe he didn't know why it happened or how to prevent it. And maybe someone else will learn from that mistake now. I guarantee it will happen to someone else sooner than later.
