Installing Intake Manifold!
 

just got my new intake manifold, and im wondering if there are any tips for installing it....ive never done this before so any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

its pretty straight forward just make sure everything is torqued to spec

Use a good torque wrench and make sure you follow the torque sequence.
Also, use quality intake gaskets....like fel-pro

its an edlebrock performer rpm.....got the upper and lower intake, im looking for a good set of heads to throw on while im in there....suggestions?

afr is the best.... 165's unless you dont gotta smog and wanna go all out... then the 185's with a nice big cam

yea AFR 185s is what im getting soon. non smog legal, Owned.


but if your tight on cash get the trickflows



if your really tight get the GT40


and if your dirt cheap just port the stock ones.

When your heads and sides are cleaned up and your ready to put the gaskets on, dont use the cork gaskets for the front or back, use rtv black or other good silicone gasket adhesive (1/4" bead) down the sides and then wait ten minutes before you put the intake on because it will let the silicone cure a little.
Then set the intake down easy, usually it's easier with two people.After you get the bolts in the lower intake you will need to torque them down to spec.
This is the tricky part--Dont assume that after you go around once with the torque wrench your done,NO WAY, you will have to go around in sequence torquing the bolts until it repeats itself without tightening or turning(it took around 5 times for my car).
When you put your injectors back on and before you put the upper on make sure you do a leak test on them.What i mean is after they are on and the rails are tight(put wd-40 on the O-rings of the injectors as you install them) and you feel confident that you did a great job, dont pat yourself on the back just yet!
Turn the key to the on position,not start, just on and do that a couple of times to prime the system and build pressure.Then with the key off go and look for leaks(you should be able to here if it does though).Then proceed to the rest of the install.
