i dont think it would affect gas mileage that much, you drive a v8 of course its going to be bad, and no the smog pump doesnt need to be hooked up you get more power without it

smog pump would theoretically hurt gas mileage since it steals power. you might need to do a regular tune up,

spark plugs
plug wires
dist cap
dist rotor
fuel filter
air filter
oil + filter
pcv valve
lucas injector cleaner

i bet that will solve the problem.

the air pump just helps the catalysts do thier job... so naw.. its not gonna affect gas mileage as the others said....

so what kind of mileage are you getting...?

btw you're not gonna get the best mileage with the pedal to the floor all the time

you'll only get more power with the pump removed, and replace the belt w/ a shorter one. Just having the pump hoses disconnected won't hurt gas milage.

ya, take the pump out completely to get more power and a small improvement in miliage.

have you done a tune up like dbeck said? also, how do you drive? if your at 4K on the street all the time of course your going to get bad miliage
