can you take the oil pan off with the engine in
 
i tried it today but i couldnt really get the enigne high enough. i unhooked the exhasut and the motor mounts and the tranny mounts...i used a hoist from the front of the engine and im pretty close but no cigar...any suggestions or nything

the pickup tube must be removed

how the hell do i do that with the ol pan in the way hahah...can u reach around it?

Easier to yank the motor. If not, jack it up as high as you can, drop the pan onto the crossmember, and you'll be able to reach the oil pump bolts. After that's taken apart you'll be able to slide the pan out. Have fun getting it back in though...

Your other option is to drop the crossmember. Like I said, yanking the motor is easier

nah its easy. the pickup is held to the pump with 2 bolts, and its got 1 bolt holding it to the #3 main cap. remove those 3 bolts, the pickup will drop into the pan, and you can slide it right out. easy.

not if your patient and have plenty of light.
