I looked everyday for 6 months. E-bay, autotrader, and every on line classifieds within 75 miles from where I live. Be patient, you will find what you are looking for.

If you are mechanically inclined, don't be afraid to buy one with a bad motor or trans! You can get it for a lot less money and throw a new motor in it instead of trying to convert on from a 4cyl. Thats what I did when I got mine. Zero cash out, traded a fiat 124 for it and put in a new motor

I am the exact opposite.. I have a hard time finishing anything so I looked for exactly what I wanted and paid out the nose for it.

I'm probably just going to save for a 5.0...

I just really don't see any good deals coming around.
I want it to have nice interior and good paint and low miles. Like I said I want one with weld drag lites and don't mind doing work to the car to fix it up. I'm just having trouble finding anything of a good deal. The main thing is finding the 5.0 with an engine that isn't toasted.

-Jeff
I totally agree with that. Save up, and keep looking for deals. I bought my 5.0 w/ 115K miles for $1.5K and it was bone stock, not beat to death. Not the best condition but everything was nice. I didnt have it sitting in the garage for months on end waiting to be built.

That's not a notchback in his avatar.

I paid $5,000 for my hatch back with fresh paint, beautiful interior, unmolested, and 86,000 miles. The car is and was flawless when I purchased it.

Me? its an 89, that i got from the second owner. he had the window sticker, the buyers order and the delivery sheet from the original owner. It has about 110,000 miles on it. The guy I bought it from is 54 years old and he had the car about 7 years. Over that time he completely redid the car. everything but the internals of the engine. He showed me receipts for $7000. He wanted $7500 and he took $7250.

bought mine with a rebuilt tranny, 92 motor swap (had 80,000 miles on it, or so he said), cobra disk conversion, cobra wheels, exhaust, 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gears, crappy paint and decent interior, paid $3000. Runs like a champ, just needs some TLC and just a little tuning.
