I my case i just asked everybody i saw if they knew of a beater for sale (not meaning a mustang) and eventually ended up with a 2.3 convert with 100,000 miles for $500. Then 2 months later i found a guy selling an '84 carbed 5.0 5-speed for $200 because it had no titleand it only took 1 week to swap what i needed while working fulltime. Now sure my car isn't perfect on the outside or a true "10" on the inside, but if your willing to deal with "not having the hottest car in town" then you can have an awesome car for really cheap. So pretty much just ask everyone one you see on the street, in the store, at school, or where ever because that is how you find the "little old lady" deals.

Now that's kind of what i'm looking to do! I found a 4 cylinder fastback for $500 that needs body work with good interior just some stains on the seats. It's either that or pay at least 3k for a 5.0L.

I would swap to a 302 or 351 for that four cylinder... I guess I would just need to find a 5.0 being sold for parts and take all the suspension parts/subframe connectors and computer and swap it?

Lastly I found a 5.0 from the same guy with brand new paint selling it for 3500 firm with the stock wheels with the holes around them but everything is supposedly mint. I went to the paint shop and couldn't really see much because it was just painted and still masked off. It was supposedly just rebuilt as well but I don't know if I should care if there has been bondo work done before the paint job or what. It was a $300 green paint job in that forest green color. It looked like a pretty good paint job, but that was in a shaded area.

Let me know what you guys think!

getafewlives the hatch in your signature is exactly what i'm looking for what is your mileage?what was it when you bought and how much did you pay back then?
I bought mine about a month ago for $3500 Canadian off of a friends grandma. Almost perfect condition, perfect black interior, $7000 worth of reciepts. She bought the car when it was like a year old. And it has 182,000 KMS (not miles)

i agree with just buying the 5.0 you havve more mone in the conversion than you woould just buying one but if you convert it you have alot more freedom with making it yours as far as suspension and all thats concerned if you have the money to put into it
