Backspacing is the distance from the inside of where the wheel mounts to the hub surface to the outer edge of the rim.

I have used both, the 235-60-15 on stock 7 in rims, and a 275-50-15 on a 8 in draglite.
and the 275's hook much better, I could spin the 235's pretty easy, whichever you choose, they are a LARGE improvement over a street radial tire.
I'm actually just going through the oppisote, I'm finding my 235/60 is hooking better then my 275/50. They are both mickey thompsons but the 275 feels harder then the 235 for some reason.
