im pretty sure i have a tremec 5 speed, i crawled under the car and it says tremec on the tranny
Yes, but like I said, it's not as strong as the ones we're talking about. Of course, you don't have to go tremec, but that was one of the ones I saw for a decent price that can hold some decent numbers.

I just did a quick search to see if I could find the tranny I was talking about. here's a link to the Cobra R transmission thatI was refering to.

I don't know how accurate it is, but I have heard people say that the 86-89 factory T-5 was rated at 265 ft-lb. of torque. The 90-93 factory T-5 was rated at 300 ft-lb. Again, i'm not sure how accurate that is because I have an AODE and don't mess with the T-5 too often. But those numbers wouldn't surprise me considering how fragile the T-5 seems.

It's also going to depend on how well you stick to the ground though. If you have better traction and little to no spinning / slipping, then your tranny is going to take a harder hit.

Look at the tag on the tranny bolts and you will see numbers like 13-52-??? You can see what tranny you have on this page : http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...p/index2.shtml
