Default High idle problem

Alright, Just recently(few weeks ago) my idle has been high(1500-2000) every time I come to a stop, But will drop down to 800 after I sit at a light or so for about 15-20 seconds..

Any ideas what the problem could be? Just kinda started happening out of the blue it seemed. Someone told me it could be the coolant temp control?

I would start by cleaning the IAC motor.

KOEO/KOER self-tests , check what the ECM is working with first.

Try your throttle position sensor...right on top of where your throttle body connects to ur intake. Its only a few bucks to replace.

$35 new to replace, not bad. Anyway to acutally tell how its bad? I think my friend was messing with it the other day, could him changing the position cause it to idle like that?

Nope...it's fine....as long as the TPS voltage is between .5 vdc and 1.1 vdc (.8 - 1.0 vdc = optimum) it's OK. Anything below or above those values will cause a TPS failure code. The .9999 vdc setting is a myth, the computer will set the minimum voltage read as "0" for its ratcheting logic. Run the self-tests, and check if you have a code 67 and/or 29 showing up at KOEO and codes 12 or 13 in the KOER self-test. Suggest to not guess....it could become unnecessarily expensive (= buying unneeded parts)......just a thought.
