Default overheating help

my 88 is runnin pretty hot right now. The radiator is just a crappy one, but was replaced less than a year ago, as well as the fan clutch. i also just replaced the thermostat to a 160*. my car is still gettin very hot. Is the only thing left the waterpump? Also, i heard somewhere that all the accesories have to be removed before the want pump can be changed, is this true?

Could be your water pump. Are you losing any coolant? If so, how much?

First of all that thermostat is way too low, throw it away and get the stock 190 one. And secondly, no, you don't have to remove all the accessories to get the water pump out, just the belt, fan shroud, fan, pulley, and hoses. You could even let the fan sit in the shroud if you want.

Is it constantly overheating? Or once in a while? Air bubbles in your cooling system cause overheating, maybe you should burp the system. Run it with the cap off and see if a lot of bubbles come out at the top. Check your coolant first, are you losing any? If you are, check the water pump, check for leaks, your radiator, and your oil...If your oil is milky then you have a head gasket problem and you're blowing coolant into the cylinders...which is not good. Try not to drive it if you're overheating a lot cause you'll end up with cracked heads.

it seems to be only once in a while. One day it'll run justslightly hotter than it should, and the next day it'll start overheating. When it does start actually overheating, once i turn my a/c off it usually goes down, but still hotter than what it should be

check for any small leaks. are you actually overheating? get under the hood and feel for it when u notice that needle hittin the red line. if it feels cool, check the sensor.
