head gasket change and bad knocking sound. help!!

i just got done with a cam swap and drove it for a day or two and found that i had a blown head gasket. i took it apart and put it back togather and now there is a really loud knocking coming from the driver side.

the ONLY thing i can think of is i did not shim my pedistal mount rockers, i did it last time, do i need to do it every single time. i just would not get why it would change.

if the oil and coolant mixed and you ran the motor like that you can kiss the bearings goodbye[:@]

yeah if any, and i mean any coolant got into the oil you should have changed the oil before you started the car.

no, no water in the oil and vice versa. i dont know if the lifters are collapsed or if the valves need to be shimmed again. thanks for the input, its just one of those things i can not find a solution. its never done this before, when i figure it out all post it so others wont be like me.
