i went through adperformance, got a fully forged rotating assembly and 331 dart sportsman block.
in the end the price was right around 4500.

good people, the build took a couple weeks longer than originally quoted, was done up right in the middle of race season last year, so that wasnt too bad overall.

first, ruger did u s/c the 347? i have heard the 331 is alot better to s/c because of the ability to run lower compression on it. i also want to make the car semi-streetable. also who is full auto? is that a member on here or something?

and tokin is that the dart block in your pic? caus the dart block is supposed to have 4 bolt mains on all caps and that has it only on the center 3, so i dunno what block that is.

first of all no i havent s/cd the 347 it is in the works now, going KB 2.2L flow/blowzilla 18#s,, right now my CR is 8.5:1 and making hella good power, it is streetable im gettin almost 20mpg right now even if i beat on it all the time,,

second, tokins block is a dart SPORTSMAN it only has 4 bolt mains on 2-4 the number 1 and 5 are 2 bolt mains, go with the IRON EAGLE not much more money and good up to 2000hp

Default RE: which block?

im not expecting to even hit 1000hp first. im also going the kb 2.2 route, was figuring on about 14# setup.
i was thinking about stock 9:1 comp would be fine if i stud it all and run the right fuel.

i also want to build the complete engine by myself, so i dont want to buy an assembly off someone. I know a good bit on how to build an engine and want to be able to say i did it myself. I also want to keep the cost of paying other people to do things for me down. If he just sells the stroker kits id think about doing that.

ok i didnt know there were diff dart blocks. i went to summit and there are 2 302 blocks and they are $400 diff in price but i cannot figure out what the difference between them is form the descriptions.

im sorry if i sound cheap, but im 20 and in college and trying to make performance cars while trying to live comfortably is hard. I dont want to cheap out on it, so i dont think im going to be able to build it anytime soon, but its always nice to dream

the difference in blocks on summit is that the more expensive one comes with cam bearins, and freeze plugs,, in addition to that block you need an adapter for you oil filter can get that at adperformance and a cam plug once again at adperformance and you have to install that backwards from a stock block,, you also will have quite a bit of machining on the iron eagle and sportsman,, one thing a sportsman has over a iron eagle is that you can use the stock type lifters instead of dogbone tie bar type hold downs,, i didnt know this till i made the purchase but another $540 later for new pro magnum hyd roller lifters from comp and i was set,, oh yeah and the threads where the oil pressure sending unit goes is i believe -10an fitting so you have to get a plug and tap it to 1/4" NPT its going to cost you a lot to build this engine, dont forget about heads, cam, intake, injectors, maf, tune, ign system etc etc,i have bout $10K in my engine alone
