my 347 also tried over heating but it was because it had air in the system. i burped the coolant system and it was fine.

i still retained the stock radiator, and electric fan

Stock raditor should be ok if it's in good shape.
Burp all the air out of it .
Also, you may have answered your own question about the water pump. If the rotation is wrong the engine WILL heat up terrible.......

its going i just recently picked up a 351w roller block for it last weekend. i will be working on converting the front end over in the next weeks if the beater doesn't break down again. while converting i will more than likely fix some of the surface rust *only 2 spots*

all and all its barely moving hahaha

Mine runs perfectly cool with a stock radiator AND a stock clutch fan! lol. I'd make sure that the water pump is the corect dirrection as said before. I'm still running mine generically tuned with an SCT chip un dyno tuned.

ruger311, it sounds like your timing was was retarded if the headers were glowing red.

I broke mine in and ran it for three weeks before getting the SCT chip. You just gotta make sure your timing and fuel are on the conservative side.

did you but the motor alerady bui;lt or did you build it yourself? you can get a radiator it could be the thermostat . to do a quick check you can take the thermostat out and thatll keep it cool till you find what it is but you may have a reverse flow water pump throuwing a monkey wrench in the works
