Check the local DMV or just ask any inspection station.

yeah but i thought cops could write you tickets for not having cats... like they could look under the car and if there is nothing there they can give you a ticket...

yeah, but how would they really know that you dont have cats w/o you telling them or the emissions stations?

what happens if you get ticketed for not having them? i heard they just refuse your plate renewal until you prove you got it fixed.

A cop can give you a ticket for whatever they want really. If youre nice to them thereshould be no problem. Like i said, check your DMV or check with an inspection station. They should have all the info you need on what to do if your ride fails.

Here in Pa the inspections are easy for me. Its all visual, no test. I think the cutoff is 95 or so. Could be wrong.

1. The inspection station will know when they look the car over if youre missing cats or not, thyere pretty obvious. They CAN fail you if theyre not there regardless of a visual or actual test. They know what make/model/year had what.

2. If you fail you have to either replace/repair/ or put the missing part back on or you will just fail again, and again. This can get expensive so its better to be on everybodys good side if you want to drive hassle free. Driving with expired tags is not a good idea. Im sure the insurance company will love that.

Not a risk id want to take.
