Default Fuel Pump won't run

Hello all,

I have a 89gt conv. auto

Is there a fuse for the fuel pump because I can't find it. The fuel pumpwill not activate with the ignition key on,so I assume the relay is bad. The pump is farily new. Is there a test I can performon the relay? I know how to jump the pump, but do not know which wires to jump. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

open the trunk

remove carpet around left side tail light

push the red button down

if it is down, check the connection to that button. i bought new straps and everything, getting ready to pull my tank because it wouldn't start. the clip that holds the wires to that shut-off switch broke so any bump or anything would turn my car off!

Checkthe fuel pump inertia switch, located on the driver's side rear in the trunk.

Edit: NM, you beat me to it And you actually explained the process

To jump ityou need to send + power to the black/pink wire going to the pump and the - to a chassis ground or the ground wire off the pump itself. Best way to do this is find the connector that links your car's wiring to the fuel tank's wiring harness and apply voltage to the connector pins on the fuel pumps side of the connector. Its a round connector, mine was hanging near the top of my fuel tank just behind my rear bumper cover. A new relay is only 10-15 bux you could buy a new one just to rule it out, and if it doesnt fix your problem it's still a handy part to have on hand as a spair.

The pump ranwhen I ran 12 volts directly, but nothing with the ignition key ON and the fuel/p relay is about six months old. I tried to reset the inertia switch but still nothing. I don't understand having a wirring problem because the car has been sitting and untampered with.

Isn't the fuel pumpfuse/relay located under the passenger seat? or no?

You tell me. If it is, then the relayis most likely the original. I'll check it out.
