RE: AOD to T-5
Could you please tell me a list of what I will need for the T5 swap and just how long it will take a pretty good mechanic(myself) to do. I've never done a tranny swap and would like to do it to the automatic i'm purchasing a few months down the road.
Thanks man.

RE: AOD to T-5
first i want to congradulate you on your purchase of a mustang. I also want to say that in my opinion it was not too hard of a job, but it took patientce. The hardest part is the pedal swap, as you need to tear the lower drivers dash and center console out as well as the drivers seat. If it is gonna take you a while take pictures, we all say we will remember it, but if it sits we forget things easily. Also good are ziplock bags and a sharpie. Its amazing how many bolts come out and how you cant figure out where they go when it comes time. You will only need basic tools to do this swap (i consider a torque wrench basic) A jack and jackstands are also needed. It took me about 10 hours to do the full swap, but you should give yourself a weekend just incase something small comes up. Also feel free to e-mail me if you have any question at any time.
for the swap you will need the following parts.
-T-5 trans
-T-5 to 5.0 compatable bellhousing
-5.0 flywheel
-5.0 clutch and pressure plate
-clutch alignment tool (like $5 at napa)
-pedal box from a 5 speed mustang, which includes the brake and clutch pedals and quadrant
-clutch cable
-clutch fork
-throw out bearing (get a new one)
-pilot bearing (also buy new one)
- 3 quarts dextron/mercon 3 ATF (dont ask me why the T-5 uses ATF)
-trans hole cover plate and boot from donor car
-bellhousing to engine bolts from donor car (they are shoter than auto)
-sorry if i forgot anything I am trying to do this as complete as possible
here i am writing a whole thing up on it and this is what i have so far. soon to come are the removal of AOD and install of T-5 articles.
any questions pm or e-mail me
